Steve Killen

Owner and Director
“I want to spread what I have learned through my experience with music. I want this knowledge to be accessible to anyone who dreams of pursuing a career in what they love most.”

Steve started his musical pursuits very young, with an interest in Piano at age 8. ultimately he started his formal education on the trombone at age 11, and soon there after fell deeply in love with the guitar. With years of studying the fret board, Steve eventually earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music composition from Lewis and Clark College, where he composed a 150 page score for his senior composition recital thesis. Soon thereafter, he studied jazz guitar for 2 years under Jerry Hahn at Portland State University.

Matt Burnett

Director of Arranging
“As a lifetime student of music my goal is to instill in students a passion for seeking knowledge, understanding, and truth; to help students become the owner, not the borrower, of theory, technique, and practical application through hard work and dedication.”

Matt began studying classical piano at age three. With an early aptitude for improvisation in classical and romantic music, Matt began his career at age nine, when he took on the role of accompanist in the ballet studio of his mother, Lynn Marchant, who is a Grand Master of Russian classical ballet. Matt spent more than 25 years in the field, and was privileged to work with Masters from the Bolshoi and the Kierov Ballet, the New York City Ballet, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and many others.

Justin Phelps

Director of Engineering

In his 14 years of experience working in the recording industry, Justin Phelps has played a part in the production of over 200 albums as well as several commercial and film soundtracks. Some of the more noteworthy names on his client list are Cake, The Neville Brothers, The Dead Kennedys, Joe Satriani, Microsoft, Schwinn, Smash Mouth, Third Eye Blind, Bob Wier, The Dresden Dolls, Mr. Bungle, Jolie Holland, Mars Volta and Chris Isaak.
