Split into groups/ band goes to rehearse with Matt, production team goes with Justin or Jordan. Steve is available to both groups

Group comes back together and debriefs on session. Here, an overview of main topics are reviewed. The basics of Mic placement, arrangement, and signal flow are taught to all. All students will set up the studio for session recording.

Essentials of Tracking/ other band members play along scratch, or learn engineering. Everyone, here should get the opportunity to run the board. We will see how far into tracking we can get. It is essential to make it through Drums and Bass before the end of the day.

Parents arrive to pick up, questions are answered, students share what they have learned, and parents have an opportunity to listen to the progress. Essentials for Day 2 are discussed.

Essentials of Tracking guitars/piano-- hooks, layers, rhythm, lead

Essentials of tracking lead Vocals-- inflection, range, what’s catchy?

Mixed down-- all students will be present for mixing. at this time the essentials of compression, EQ, level, automation will be presented. During this time, students will have the opportunity to be creative with how to mix their song with effects. Also, if there is time, a short tutorial on mastering will be offered.

Parents arrive for pizza night

Presentation of song to parents through sound system. Master recording is presented to production team. Heron Blue signs all rights of publishing to the band. Certificates are handed out.

Q&A for Steve and Matt. Open Forum and evaluation. Feedback encouraged, sign ups for next workshop where we do two songs in one weekend.
